The Reason Why...

I've figured out that the reason why my confinement lady talks to me all the time is because she doesn't want me to become depressed.. If i have too much time by myself, i will start thinking/worrying/imagining things.. Which is true.. I find myself feeling better whenever Auntie talks to me and repeating all her stories x5 times.. So thank you auntie!

I've also figured out that the reason why Kel is in this job, is because of the baby... besides being able to work from home, going to office later than most of us.. during the last week of the year, he has to take block leave.. which is just perfect timing! He can be at home with me & baby for the most part of confinement.. & that is really awesome... he takes most of my insecurities away!

I've also figured out that the reason why my parents moved to Simei (& of all places the block opp mine) is because of baby.. My mummy comes over every day to see the baby & me (i'm secondary of cos).. my sister Jane who is super free after her Uni exams pops by ever so often... to see the baby & me (once again, i'm not the priority) They helped to run errands, buy stuff that was left out/ran out.. bought foods that i like to eat.. (think Crystal Jade bread and Lao Ban Dao Huay)

I'm thanking God every day for all these.. and things do happen for a reason... =)

Christmas 2011

This year's Christmas was special because it is the 1st time spent with husband & BABY!

Joash also received presents.. although I was the one who had more fun unwrapping and playing with them!

Thank you friends & family once again for your generous giving!And it is amazing how quickly time pass! Joash is already 2 weeks old!
His face is changing everyday.. and his eyes are starting to open wider each day too! Papa Kel also bathed him for the first time (thank God that baby loves to bathe.. he did not fuss at all)

Well, I'm sure more new things are in store for us.. and Kel is out to buy stuff (cotton wool, tissue paper, toilet roll etc) for the 108266456 time...

Baby Joash – Week 1

I can’t believe 1 week pass by so quickly!! Joash is 1 week old already!! Aaahhhh….

It was like yesterday when i admitted into Mt A to have my C-sec done… Took a plenty of photos while waiting for the time to come… Our deluxe single room… NICE!!

changed into my gown… and the ridiculous shower cap… Kelvin had to wear it too as he is going into the operating theater with me..    

And within 10mins, the baby is out.. i shall not post the “bloody” photos.. Here’s a cleaned up one of Joash!!

Actually the whole process took less than 45mins and i din feel any pain throughout as i was under epidural.. just a bit of tugging and pressure when they were pushing the baby out of my tummy.. oh ya, i vomitted after the baby was delivered.. the doc explained that it was a side effect of the epidural…

after the op, i could not move my legs for a few hours… except for shivers and itchiness, i felt rather fresh! so we welcomed our first visitors!! my family!!

My spiritual parents; Ps. Zhuang & Ps. Audrey came to visit once baby was born too!!MAny thanks to the friends who came over to visit! And they really brought many gifts… Jane helped by taking photos of all of them!

I got so many packs of chicken/fish essence that i can open a shop!

The 4 days spent in the hospital was spent majority in bed as i cannot exert stress on my wound.. the nurses at Mt A were very helpful and caring.. They cleaned me up and were very prompt delivering the food, medicine and responding to our requests… other than recuperating, Kel & I spent time taking photos of baby and entertaining visitors with our boring birth story..

I was rather sad on Thurs as baby couldn’t go home with us due to jaundice.. i think i cried when i went home.. anyway.. all’s good when we went to fetch him back home on Friday..

home life is pretty different now that we have a baby… but no fear when u have a confinement lady staying with you.. Auntie helped with household chores, changing diapers and cooking.. she also helped to feed baby in the night so that i can properly sleep.. how wonderful.. BTW, confinement food ROCKS!!

we had to bring Jo back to see the PD today.. so Mummy decided that it’s time to wear his most ex piece of clothing.. which can only last a few more weeks..

Counting My Blessings…

I am 4 days away from my scheduled delivery date.. and YES! i am excited! the past few days has been particularly poignant for me as i witnessed how much the people around me; family and friends, rallied together to help me get prepared for the arrival of a new family member.

My mum & sis (Mr Gan included) came over to my place not once, not twice, but almost everyday to help me clean, mop, throw out thrash, scrubbed the bathrooms clean, sanitized the kitchen, fridge, change bedsheets.. as much as i want to help out in the cleaning, i get very tired (backaches have a new definition for me now) so very quickly. Even though i am very grateful for the help, i feel very bad that my sis and mummy have to do all these for me..

Anyway, really wanna take this opportunity to count my blessings… so that i NEVER forget the good things that had been given to me.. When things get tough in future, i will remember this blog post and how much God has been good to me…

My daddy bought a super high tech rice cooker for me after knowing that my current one broke down..

My dad is super sweet ya.. btw, it is a better model than the one my parents use at home.. U can tell how much they love me =)

Jane, with her artistic talent, made a lil signage at the entrance of the baby room and happily bought Winnie the Pooh wall stickers to decorate the cot area..

(ok, the winnie the pooh part is more for me.. Mummy here is a big pooh fan..)

Also big hugs to my office bestie Kless & her sometimes-nice-sometimes-annoying husband, for the very useful Swaddle Me thingy.. Thanks for your LOVE!

Got a very practical gift from the nicest couple i know, Kel & Cyn, this sterilizer is a must-have.. Thank you so very much!  i promise to return the favor when it’s your turn to be parents!!

And i finally got down to washing all the baby clothes we bought..

This is the don’t know number what batch i washed… no space at balcony so i had to put it in the living room..

And the unwrapping of the romper i got for my son…

i feel like slapping myself! Now that i know the baby is going to be real big n fat, i dunno how many times he will be able to wear it before it becomes too small.. WHAT IF HE IS ALREADY TOO BIG AT BIRTH?!?!? i seriously will go bang wall..

Time for a FEAST!

On Wednesday, Kel and I decided to give ourselves a treat at Crystal Jade Kitchen after a long and pretty frustrating day.. Coupled with the $50 voucher I had.. We thought we could really do with a good feast!

And we did!!

Ordered Stewed Beef, Ma Po Fried Tofu, Fried Silverbait,Almond crusted Lemon Chicken and Mango PuddingLooks unhealthy ya.. but i thought ordering veg in restaurants is not very worthed it.. Heh heh…

The service at CJK is also very good.. they served us iced water without us asking and kept topping it up… Very patient even though we spent an incredibly long time deciding what to eat!

Yesterday, the cot bed that we bought for Joash was delivered!! It looks nice!! And Jane came over, cos my mummy & daddy say i am not supposed to look at the workers assemble the bed (basically no moving of furniture – just 1 of the many superstitions, apparently it will 动胎气.. very duh.. but i don’t wanna argue with my mum)

My sis who inherited the cleanliness-freak genes from my mum.. started cleaning my house.. wiping the floors, cleaning the window grills.. she even wanted to take down the curtains to wash!! There’s no stopping her!! 

I am very thankful for my family during this whole period.. like what my sis said, family support is so important.. I love my mum, dad and sistas!!
