Guy Laroche

Yesterday, i went shopping alone for Jane's present (last min pang seh by Jess).. anyway, because of the very specific nature of the kind of gift Jane wanted, i went around looking specifically for WHITE, LONG wallets...

And due to our budget constraints... i can't really get her a Kate Spade, neither did the Nine West outlet in Raffles City sell wallets.. Guess is condemned by Jess.. i ended up in Robinsons..

Now Robinsons is a big jungle of branded goods... i chanced upon .. never actually bought anything from that brand before.. BUT they had that exact WHITE, LONG wallet that Jane wanted, what's more, their wallets r near the budget that me & Jess had in mine.. so i happily called Jess (who pang seh-ed) me, to ask exactly how long a wallet Jane wanted...

Before we could reach a conclusion, Jess asked me a very profound qns, "What's the brand of the wallet ar?"

I was momentarily stumped... initially, i wanted to reply her, in my plain, straightforward pronounciation, "Guy (as in guy, girl) La Ro Che" (i mean how wrong can i get?)

BUT, i was very conscious as the SALESGIRL was just standing next to me.... i din want to risk embarrassing myself... so i told me sis, "I don't know, but the beginning starts with G.U.Y"

My sis, "ORH..." (AS IF she knew)

Anyway, was i glad, i din anyhow just pronounce that brand name.. cos immediately after i bought the wallet, i googled, "how to pronounce Guy Laroche"

And for all of us who did not know, for the record, it is pronounced,
Gee La Rosh...

Thank God my pride did not allow me to be embarrassed..
